Popular food delivery platform DoorDash suffered a cyberattack in which it lost sensitive data of an undisclosed number of users.
The company began sending data breach notification emails to affected individuals, in which it said it detected the intrusion on October 25, 2025.
DoorDash said the attackers stole people’s names, phone numbers, email addresses and mailing addresses, but in a slightly strange comment, it said “no sensitive information was accessed.”
Customers, merchants and employees affected
The breach occurred after one of the employees fell for a social engineering scam and granted attackers access to the platform.
We don’t know exactly how many people were affected by the breach, but DoorDash said the incident involved customers, merchants and employees.
The notifications appear to have been sent primarily to Canadian users, but it is suspected that US citizens were also affected, as an undated security notice on the DoorDash site also mentioned social security numbers (SSNs), primarily a type of US data.
“We have already taken steps to respond to the incident, including implementing improvements to our security systems, additional training for our employees, hiring a leading cybersecurity forensics firm to assist in our investigation of the issue, and notifying authorities so that the investigation is ongoing,” the notice reads.
There was no mention of any identity theft or credit monitoring services offered to victims, which is standard practice in these situations.
Even if there is, customers and users should be wary of incoming emails and other communications, especially those claiming to be from DoorDash. Cybercriminals will most likely try to use the stolen data to trick victims into installing malware or granting them access to social media accounts, banking platforms, or even employment applications.
