DPM Dar, Iranian FM discuss developments in me and gaza

The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ishaq Dar, reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for the establishment of a sovereign and independent Palestinian state during a telephone conversation with IranĂ Foreign Minister, Seyyed Abbas Araghchi on Sunday.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the two leaders discussed the crisis in progress in the Middle East, particularly the situation in Gaza. Giving reiterated Pakistan’s position in favor of a Palestinian state based on borders prior to 1967, with Al-Sharif al-Quds as its capital.

The Foreign Minister also condemned the proposals to displace the population of Gaza, describing them as worrying. He stressed that the Palestinian land belongs to its people and requested a resolution to the conflict through the implementation of a solution of two states, in line with the resolutions of the UN Security Council.

In addition, Dar expressed the support of Pakistan to convene an extraordinary meeting of the Organization of Foreign Ministers of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to address the problem.

Both officials agreed to maintain close coordination in the next few days to monitor regional developments. Pakistan has constantly advocated a peaceful resolution to the Palestinian issue based on international law and justice.

Earlier this week, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a strong response to the comments of US President Donald Trump regarding Gaza, calling them unfair and unacceptable.

During the weekly media session, the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Shafqat Ali Khan, reaffirmed Pakistan’s posture firm on Palestine, stating that his policy has remained unchanged since 1947.

“Any statement that suggests the forced elimination of the Palestinians of their lands is unfair. Pakistan is firmly with the Palestinian people and condemns Israel’s violations to the Gaza Fire Fire Agreement,” Khan said.

He asked the international community to take measures against repeated violations of Israel and reaffirmed Pakistan’s constant position in Palestine since 1947.
