Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh, fought back tears as she visited the lifesaving service and recalled the moment she came close to death.
The hard-working member of the royal family recalled the formidable experience of her life during the trip. However, his visit made the charity’s volunteers smile.
The charity’s chief executive welcomed Sophie’s arrival and said it was an honor to welcome the royal to Thames Valley Air Ambulance headquarters.
The trip renewed Sophie’s memory of fighting for her life.
“The Duchess, a former patient and also our royal patron, has always been passionate about our mission to give everyone in the region the best possible chance of survival and recovery,” the head of the organization said.
“She was very supportive during the Covid pandemic, she attended calls with online teams and spoke to them and she was at our 21st birthday, so she is very familiar with what is happening.
Sophie was rushed to King Edward VII Hospital in London for urgent surgery. The service actually helped save his life.
She has maintained a deep connection with the charity since becoming a patient in 2001. She was appointed Royal Patron in 2019.
