The Duchess of Edinburgh was reportedly left in shock after witnessing a painful accident, almost breaking royal protocol when it happened.
The 60-year-old royal, who has gained a prominent position with King Charles as his ‘secret weapon’ for the monarchy, has been dragged into an unfortunate court case over an 81-year-old woman, who lost her life in 2023.
A woman called Helen Holland had been crossing the road at the Old Bailey when she was hit by speeding officer PC Christopher Harrison, part of the motorbike convoy escorting Sophie as she left the Foreign and Commonwealth Development Office.
The officer received a verdict of “not guilty” which sparked an emotional reaction from Helen’s family. One of the family members had shouted: “You ruined our family without consequences.”
Prince Edward’s wife has remained quiet during the legal process. At that time he had only issued a statement to express his condolences to the family. He was unable to comment further due to the ongoing court case.
In a new report from daily mailNever before shared details were shared about Sophie’s reaction in which she almost broke pedestrian protocol.
For the first time they have detailed the horrific injuries Helen suffered during what Harrison described in court as “a tragic accident”. They also shared that moments after the collision, the Duchess of Edinburgh attempted to get out of her vehicle to run towards Helen.
Meanwhile, Helen’s son, Martin, and daughter-in-law, Lisa, take another legal action, not to obtain any compensation, but to prove that the beloved great-grandmother “did nothing wrong.”

“She is grateful for the quick response of the emergency services and will continue to monitor developments. It would not be appropriate to comment further at this time while the incident is being investigated.”
