
The Duchess of Edinburgh visited the Royal Hospital where she joined the Chelsea pensioners for her weekly bingo night, according to a statement issued by the royal family on Wednesday.
Duchess Sophie joined a group of 80 pensioners for three rounds of her weekly Bingo night.
“The Bingo on Tuesday night at Chelsea Pensioners Club encourages camaraderie and is a successful weekly activity that helps relieve loneliness, promotes mental well -being and strengthens the sense of community within the historical institution,” said the statement.
He added: “His real highness spoke with Ted Fell, 86, about the Royal Artillery, who introduced his fellow Bingo players before the games began.”
“The club, which has a licensed bar, a game room and a quiet reading room, serves as the social center of the Royal Hospital, which houses almost 300 Chelsea pensioners who previously served in the British army.”
