While he continues playing for a national championship, Cooper Flagg has added another honor to his curriculum.
Duke’s superstar was appointed this year’s winner of the wooden award, awarded to the best university basketball player in the country.
Flagg becomes the fourth first year student in history to win the award, joining Kevin Durant, Anthony Davis and Zion Williamson.

Flagg received the wink about Johni Broome, Walter Clayton Jr., Mark Sears and Braden Smith.
This season, Flagg averages 18.9 points, 7.5 rebounds and 4.2 assists. Despite returning from an ankle injury suffered in the ACC Tournament, it is presenting 19.5 points, 7.8 rebounds and 5.3 assists in the NCAA tournament.
Flagg has helped bring Duke to the Final Four, and the Blue Devils are the favorites to win everything.

“S —, I want to go back next year,” said the first year student in February. “I still feel like a child. This is the only way I have met the University. This is how I see it. I would not know how children felt before, and if this feels different, if this feels more like a professional. I mean, it is the same for children in high school, they also pay me a lot of money. I don’t know. I feel quite normal.”
