The Supersonic R r went on sale for the first time in February 2024, and initially caught attention because it looked more like a pipe than any hair dryer we had seen. After everyone stopped making jokes about their appearance, the dryer began to win people with their performance. That strange design is much more comfortable and easier to handle than a traditional dryer, and also allows a more precise style.
The only thing that prevented our best list of hair dryers was the fact that it was only professional. Until now. The Dyson Supersonic R that is on sale is identical to the original Pro version, except for a shorter cable (house length, instead of living room length).
The most aerodynamic and maneuverable form and the lowest weight are possible by some redesigned mechanics. Under the hood you will find a more aerodynamic air heater than the one in regular supersonics, and a Dyson Hyperdymium engine also (possibly the same / a version of which feeds today’s best Dyson vacuum cleaners).
The R will initially be available in Pink Ceramic, and you are also working on a version of Plum Jasper. These are two of the new color combinations that are filtered in the Dyson hair care care line and, in my option, a great update in its previous tropical tones.
The R also comes with some intriguing magnetic accessories to play. What is this powerful tool? How the hell is the smooth smooth? All the things I hope to discover when I have my hands in one. I am pleased to see that there is a compatible version of the fans’ favorite steering wheel accessory.
All accessories have RFID sensors, which means that the dryer knows which one is connected and will remember its latest temperature and air flow configuration with each one.

The Supersonic R has just been on sale in Ceramic Pink in the United States, at a list price of $ 569.99.
In the United Kingdom, the Supersonic R will come with a list price of £ 449.99 (£ 50 more than the Nural). The Ceramic Pink version will go on sale from April 2 in Dyson Demo Stores, Dyson.co.uk and selected retailers (it can be recorded for a launch notification of the United Kingdom).
It seems that it will also be launched in Australia, it can be registered for the AU launch notification, but I have not yet had a date or a price. The nural costs au $ 749, so it will be perhaps a little more than that.
The Dyson Supersonic R Professional will remain for sale on the website ‘For Business’ website of Dyson, as well as through selected commercial distributors. It seems that the two versions are identical, except that the ‘professional’ version has a longer cable, which makes it more appropriate to use in a living room. The Pro version also has different colors.
Nural vs r – What dryer will the supreme reign?
The current range of the brand is the nural supersonic. That model impressed me when I tried it for my Dyson Supersonic Nural Review, and remains the best premium hair dryer that we have tried in Techradar. I will make an adequate comparison once I have had the opportunity to try the R OUT, but at a glance it seems that the R is smaller and light, but that the nural could have more special characteristics.
The Nural comes with a scalp protection configuration, where the dryer monitors how far it is from her head, and shelters more or colder to maintain what she feels like a constant temperature in the scalp. That is not mentioned with r. The same goes for automatic fall to less power when the nural falls.
Many of the attachments are different, but I think most are different versions of the same idea. It is remarkable that the R does not come with the diffuser of two parts improved, but rather a more traditional version. Both dryers can recognize which accessory is on and change to their last configuration with that attached file. Based on US prices and the United Kingdom, the Nural is also a bit cheaper.
