Electronic Arts has canceled Cliffhanger ‘games Black Panther Game and closed the study.
In an email sent to the staff (as seen and informed by IGN), the president of EA Entertainment, Laura Miele, shared the announcement and said that the decision to cancel the game and close the study was to “sharpen our approach and put our creative energy behind the most important growth opportunities.”
The number of employees affected by the decision has not been confirmed at this time, but IGN understands that the total number of layoffs is less than the 300 roles that were reduced last month between Repawn and several other studies.
It is also understood that EA has fired some people from their mobile and central teams.
“These decisions are difficult,” Mielle wrote in email. “They affect the people we have worked with, we learned and shared real moments. We are doing everything possible to support them, including the search for opportunities within EA, where we have succeeded helping people land in new roles.”
