Karachi:
The Christian community celebrated the Easter Festival on Sunday, with strict security arrangements made for all churches throughout Sindh.
Easter began with religious services, including prayers, with the participation of a large number of women, children and men.
Prayers for the security, peace and stability of the country were offered, and Christian leaders said that the teachings of Jesus Christ illustrate humanity, love and brotherhood.
Easter is the second largest festival in the Christian community, and is also interpreted as the victory of life over death.
Sindh’s prime minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has extended Easter greetings to the Christian community on Sunday.
He said the Christian community celebrated Easter with great devotion and respect. Murad said Easter taught us about mutual love and respect. “We have great respect for minorities,” he added.
The prime minister said the Christian community had played a key role in the development of Pakistan.
Only through mutual love and devotion, the country could put themselves on the way to development, he said that all minorities in the country enjoyed religious rights and freedom.
