Eco agrees with the economic integration strategy

A summit of seven leaders of Western and Central Asia agreed to liberalize trade, attract more foreign investment and develop green energy cooperation to strengthen regional economic integration.

The collection of the Economic Cooperation Organization also agreed to improve transport connectivity and restore the areas after the conflict throughout the region as part of a long -term development strategy to 2035, the organization announced.

Hajiyev said that Azerbaijan plans to establish a regional green energy center and a combined transport energy center under the new framework, although investment figures have not yet been completed.

In one direction, Aliyev highlighted the appearance of Azerbaijan as a Regional Energy and Investment Center, noting that $ 350 billion had been invested in the country’s economy in the last two decades.

The meeting was held in the capital of the former Nagorno-Karabak enclave. In 2023, Azerbaijan resumed the entire enclave, where ethnic Armenians had enjoyed de facto independence for decades.

Both Armenia and Azerbaijan have supported a peace treaty, but the tensions between the two neighbors are still high.
