Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has stated that the economy was severely damaged during the previous Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-led government.
Addressing a Federal Cabinet meeting, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif mentioned that a notable conference on women’s education had recently been held in Pakistan, which was well prepared by the Education Minister, Education Secretary, Minister of Information and others.
The conference was attended by the Secretary General of the OIC and ministers of education from several countries.
He said Pakistan faces significant challenges regarding women’s education, with around 22.8 million children out of school, the majority of whom are girls. He highlighted that provinces have a vital role to play in addressing these challenges, and the federal government must work with provinces to overcome these obstacles in the education sector.
Shahbaz Sharif also mentioned that an emergency had been declared in the education sector a few months ago. He urged the Minister of Education to coordinate with the provinces to remove obstacles in education, which would be a significant effort.
He added that PIA flights to Europe have resumed and the first flight to Paris was recently launched, which is a significant achievement.
Unfortunately, a few years ago, the then Aviation Minister of the previous government gave a speech in Parliament that contributed to Pakistan’s economic damage, resulting in adverse effects for the country and its travelers.
The Prime Minister also highlighted that after many years all restrictions are being lifted and flights to the UK are expected soon. He congratulated Defense Minister Khawaja Asif, his team and everyone involved in this achievement.
He mentioned the opening of a new crossing on the Pakistan-Iran border at Panjgur, which will promote legal trade and curb smuggling. He thanked the brotherly country of Iran for its important role in this.
In Kurram, the situation is returning to normal after a major setback due to a peace agreement: bunkers are being dismantled and food and medicine are being supplied.
The Prime Minister further stated that operations are being carried out against the Khorij faction under the leadership of the Pakistan Army Chief. Recently, 27 terrorists were killed in an intelligence-based operation in Balochistan.
Operations also continue in other areas. He emphasized that these sacrifices will finally eradicate the Khorij menace and restore the peace that Pakistan had under the leadership of Nawaz Sharif in 2018.
The Prime Minister also mentioned that the Ministry of Power had informed the cabinet and a task force is working efficiently on the matter.
It should be noted that the Federal Cabinet meeting, chaired by the Prime Minister, is ongoing and important decisions are expected to be ratified.
The meeting agenda includes discussions on the appropriate size of federal institutions, the proposal to place the Aviation Division under the Ministry of Defense and the merger of the Narcotics Division into the Ministry of the Interior. The decisions of the Economic Coordination Committee (CEC) will also be ratified.
