ECP orders political parties to present financial statements before August 29

The Pakistan Electoral Commission (ECP) issued on Friday a reminder to all political parties, urging them to present their consolidated statements for the financial year 2024–25 before August 29, 2025 of compliance with the Elections Law, 2017.

In an official statement, the ECP emphasized that, according to section 210 of the 2017 Elections Law, together with sections 204 and rules 159 and 160 of the 2017 electoral rules, each political party must present form D, which must include audited financial details for the year ending on June 30, 2025.

The financial statement must describe the annual income and expenses of the party, the sources of funds, active and liabilities, and must be accompanied by an audit report prepared by a public accountant.

In addition, political parties must present a certificate signed by an authorized bearer, confirming that there were no funds from prohibited sources under the election law. The certification must also confirm the precision and integrity of the financial information provided.

According to rule 156 of the elections rules, the statement must be submitted in person by a offices authorized by the head of the party. The ECP clarified that the statements sent by Post, Fax, Courier or other methods will not be accepted.

Printed copies of Form-D are available for free in the ECP secretariat in Islamabad and in the offices of the provincial electoral commissioners in Punjab, Sindh, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Baluchistan. The form and the proforma for the source of funds can also be downloaded from the official website of the ECP.

The presentation must also include legible copies of the bank extracts of the part from July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2025, together with a bank conciliation statement. An attesting copy of the auditor’s membership certificate issued by the Pakistan Public Accountants Institute, together with the last renewal.

The commission urged all political parties to ensure that their presentations are complete, legible and free to overwritten, since they can be rejected incompletely or presented incorrectly.
