ISLAMABAD:

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has suspended the fresh election on December 18 in 22 polling stations of NA-251 following the directives of the Supreme Court.

In a notification issued on Tuesday, the ECP stated that the suspension was made “in accordance with the orders passed by the Supreme Court of Pakistan”. The directive came after a hearing on December 15, 2025 in two related civil appeals: Khushal Khan Kakar v. ECP and Sami Ullah v. ECP and Others.

As a result, the commission’s previous notification dated December 4, 2025 regarding the conduct of the new survey has been rescinded.
