Previously, ECP had rejected what it called “propaganda without foundation” that circulated in certain media circles in response to renewed criticism after the decision of the Constitutional Bank of the Apex court on the reserved seats.
The criticisms occurred after the constitutional bank of SC dismissed the request for review of the Sunnite Council (sic) of Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI).
This decision allows the ruling coalition, directed by the Pakistan Muslim League, Nawaz (PML-N), emerge as the largest and consolidated a two-thirds majority in the National Assembly.
Amid the changing political dynamics, the ECP has reiterated its constitutional role and defended the legality of its decisions, saying that the statements were contrary to the facts and intended to deceive the public.
It was a victory for the ruling parties in the legal front, since the Constitutional Bank of SC has set aside the Court’s judgment on July 12, 2024, which had resurrected the PTI as a parliamentary part and allowed it to obtain seats reserved in legislatures.
