Efforts in progress for the release of kidnapped people

Islamabad:

Security and government forces are making efforts to ensure the release of people kidnapped by Khwarjis in Lakki Marwat, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

According to security sources, the Khwarjis had kidnapped workers associated with a mining project in the Kabul Khel area in Lakki Marwat on January 9. The workers went to work when the terrorists intercepted their vehicle and kidnapped them.

The Tehreek-E-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) subsequently published a video of the kidnapped, demanding that the government meet their conditions.

However, in an attempt to increase pressure on the government, the Khwarjis killed one of the hostages. Then they forced another hostage to record a video in which they falsely claimed that the victim had died in an air attack.

On January 25, the terrorists delivered the victim’s body and another hostage to the elders of the Khal Kabul tribe and falsely affirmed that death had occurred because of an air attack from the security forces. However, the claim was completely unfounded and was a clear act of defamation.

A rapid search operation carried out by security forces successfully rescued eight of the 16 hostages, while the remaining individuals are still in custody of the Khwarjis. Efforts are being made to guarantee their safe release.
