Eid Exodus overwhelms bus, train stations

Rawalpindi:

Bus stops and railway stations in twin cities have been filledly filled as non -resident workers will spend vacations with their loved ones in their cities of origin.

The Exodus has led to a massive crowd in the transport centers, including the Rawalpindi train station, the Pir Wadhai General Buses Stand and other smaller and larger transport terminals. The transporters took advantage of the situation by significantly increasing rates, which leads to disputes and altercations with passengers throughout the day.

Surprisingly, there are no special eid trains that operate from Rawalpindi this year, and there are also no 20 percent discount tickets as in the past. Passengers were informed that the discount would only be applicable during EID holidays and not before.

Transporters have increased rates at RS100 to RS 150 for several routes, including Peshawar, Lahore, Faisalabad, Finen, Jhang, Sialkot, Bahawalpur, Mardan and Kohat. Although the railroad has reduced rates by up to 20 percent for all trains, passengers have complained that they are charged rs90 in excess. The Rawalpindi rate to Lahore is RS1,140.

The trains from Rawalpindi to Lahore, Karachi and Peshawar are completely reserved, with passengers fighting to ensure seats. Those who could not find seats on buses went to the railway station. Travelers traffic multiplies the Rawalpindi and Chaklala railroad stations, particularly for those who go to Karachi and fine.

In addition, local transport, including buses and coaches, has deviated to long routes due to EID, which has caused difficulties for people traveling within districts and nearby areas.
