When Eigenlayer, the most popular startup in Ethereum, launched a year ago to mass expectations: many members of the community quickly criticized that lacked a critical characteristic.
An advertisement of the project on Wednesday said the characteristic, Slashing, will finally arrive on April 17. The introduction of the Court will mark the first version of “complete characteristic” of the protocol.
Eigenlayer was a pioneer in the concept of replacement, a way for Ethereum users to ensure additional protocols beyond the base layer to compromise their staked ether. The Court was supposed to be a central part of this system, providing applications with a way of punishing the bad actors to confiscate a part of their capital.
The implementation of the cutting bar will allow validated services (AVSS) actively, applications built on Eigenlayer’s resting system, to establish personalized conditions that penalized operators that do not meet the pre -established conditions and rewarding those who do.
“This is a big step forward in the Eigenlayer protocol because it allows a free market where operators can obtain rewards for their work and AVSS can launch verifiable services,” Eigenlayer said in a blog post.
Eigenlayer attracted more than $ 15 billion to the platform within a year and generated a massive exaggeration for Token Eigen, which was launched in October.
The Eigenlayer ecosystem has expanded, with “more than 100” AVS in development, according to its website. Notable services include Eigenda, a data availability service operated by EIGEN LABS and ARPA NETWORK, which specializes in a randomization without trust.
While Eigenlayer was a pioneer in the restart, the lack of cut to the left so that competitors gain market share. The symbiotic, which allows the replacement of any asset, has been used by Eigenlayer Early Adapers, including Hyperlane, an interoperability framework, and Ethena, a popular synthetic synthetic dollar protocol.
