The wave of resignations from standing committees by Pakistani Tehreek-e-Insaf legislators continues, following the directives of party founder Imran Khan, as eight PTI members have resigned from their duties in Punjab Assembly committees.
According to Express News, Hafiz Farhat Abbas was the latest to resign on Friday, resigning from the Environment and Home Affairs Standing Committees.
In a related development, MPA Ahmar Rasheed Bhatti has tendered his resignation from multiple committees of the Punjab Assembly, resigning from the panels on Energy, Law Enforcement and Legislation.
He also resigned from the Planning and Development, Labor and Human Resources committees, as well as the Business and Ethics Advisory Committee. His resignation has been presented to the Presidency.

His departure brings to eight the total number of PTI legislators who have resigned from their positions in the committee. Earlier, other PTI members including Sana Karimi, Rana Shehbaz, Owais Wark, Malik Mumtaz Farukh Javed Moon and Sheikh Imtiaz had also resigned from their respective committees.
The resignations follow Imran Khan’s instructions for all PTI legislators to withdraw from the standing committees of the Punjab Assembly.
Confirming the directive on Thursday, PTI president Advocate Gohar Ali Khan said the party currently holds the chairmanship of 14 committees and Khan has issued “clear instructions for a collective withdrawal”.
Leader of Opposition in Punjab Assembly Moeen Riaz Qureshi had also directed PTI members to tender their resignations in accordance with the party founder’s decision.
