Electric bus rates rise in capital

Islamabad:

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has increased electric buse rates in the Federal Capital. The increase in rates has been formally implemented since Sunday.

According to the sources, the rates of the orange, green, blue lines and electric buses have been reviewed from RS50 to RS100. The decision was made due to some administrative and financial reasons.

Around 90,000 passengers travel daily in these buses, the sources said, and added that the CDA will soon present a new concession policy proposed in rates in different categories.

According to the proposed policy, separate packages will be given to office workers, students and elderly. The proposed concession packages will be for people traveling daily, weekly, biweekly and monthly and for those who take bus cards.

The sources also said that the work is underway in the proposed concessionaires packages. Soon the notification of the proposed concessionaires will be issued. The authority has increased the RS50 to RS100 rate, which will be ruled out in daily, weekly, biweekly and monthly packages.

The president of the CDA and the Chief Commissioner of Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, has ordered the relevant authorities to ensure that comprehensive information, including the full schedule, arrival and departure times, of the electric buses that operate in the capital are made available to Google Maps. The measure aims to help residents conveniently plan their trips from home.
