Electric companies that violate the agreement: Minister

Karachi:

The Federal Energy Energy Minister, Ali Pervaiz Malik, has declared that energy generating companies are not using imported gas according to agreements and that expensive gas is like expensive gas is sold to national consumers at subsidized rates, which leads to an increase in circular debt.

“Electric companies are violating their agreements, which is increasing the liabilities of national gas import companies,” said Malik, while talking with the media in the central office of the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) on Friday.

The minister revealed that smuggling fuel is spreading as “cancer”, and to stop it, gasoline pumps are being recorded and install the digital nozzles. “The oil and gas regulatory authority (OGRA) will become completely digital in two or three months, allowing the complete monitoring of the fuel supply and the sales of the refineries to the gasoline pumps,” he said, and added that 85% of the digital monitoring of moving shares has already been completed.

The Minister of Energy said that a final decision has not yet been made to increase Levy of oil development (PDL), and that its application in prices has not taken place for now. He emphasized the need for a coherent and unified energy policy, suggesting that all energy sources must be evaluated in equal standards.

Malik stressed that government success in reducing electricity prices and maintaining current gasoline and diesel prices is a significant achievement. However, relief in the electricity sector has become a load for the oil sector.
