RAWALPINDI:
The Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) has announced plans to introduce battery-powered tourist vehicles at Saddar Bazaar, aiming to improve convenience for families and shoppers while promoting an eco-friendly environment at the mall.
According to official sources, the initiative seeks to curb the use of gasoline and diesel vehicles, including motorcycles, in the area to reduce pollution and improve the overall experience of visitors.
RCB has invited tenders for the procurement of these eco-friendly vehicles, with submissions open until January 2. Bids will be reviewed and opened on January 6, followed by issuance of work orders to successful bidders by January 10. The contract will be awarded
to the company offering the lowest bid.
“This is an important green project,” said the RCB CEO, highlighting the board’s commitment to sustainable urban solutions.
On the other hand, the underground wiring project of Saddar commercial area is nearing completion.
The work involves placing all cables underground on key roads including Bank Road, Haider Road, Kashmir Road, King Road and Mall Road.
