Elle Fanning looks ahead to 2026 with a simple, relatable goal: stay present.
The actress opened up while speaking with people magazine at the Palm Springs International Film Festival Film Awards in Palm Springs, California, where she was honored with the International Star Award for her ensemble work on Sentimental Value.
“I’m trying to be more present,” Fanning, 27, said. “I think I’m a big dreamer, which is good, but then I can think too much about the future and spiral, so I need to live in the moment.”
Fanning also reflected on the strong emotional reaction audiences have had to Sentimental Value, which follows a woman who reconnects with her estranged father, a famous director, after the death of her mother.
“I feel like people have a very emotional response to this movie,” he said. “I think it’s a universal thing… People came out of the theater and, you know, said they hadn’t talked to their parents in a long time, and they finally talked to [them] after watching our movie. “That’s a beautiful thing.”
The film also stars Renate Reinsve and Stellan Skarsgård.
Fanning also teased her role as Effie Trinket in the upcoming film. Hunger Games prequel, The Hunger Games: Dawn of the Harvest.
“That world is so great,” he told the outlet. “And I tried on some good costumes… I have a lot of selfies on my phone.”
As a long-time fan of the franchise, the role has special meaning for her.
“I love Panem,” he shares. “I mean, I’m a big fan of the OG movies, you know? I love the movies. They’re very comforting to me. They’re a fantastic airplane watch…just watch them all back to back.”
