Engage! The Lego Star Trek Enterprise NCC-1701-D model is here, and it’s spectacular

  • The first big Star Trek Lego set
  • There are 3,600 pieces.
  • A full complement of characters and a few surprises.

Fans of the nearly 60-year-old franchise have waited decades for this: a Lego Icons set based on a part of the iconic sci-fi series, and now we have it, a 3,600-piece, 10.5 tall by 23.5 long by 18.5 wide buildable representation of Star Trek: The Next Generation. Starship USS Enterprise NCC-1701-D, an icon in the long-running series and films that followed.

The arrival of the Enterprise comes just months after Lego and franchise owner Paramount finally joined forces to begin delivering what is sure to be a series of incredible Star Trek-based kits. Prior to this, block-based building kits for the sci-fi franchise were primarily made by companies like Mega Blocks. They were okay, but they never captured the prestige, design expertise or sheer audacity of a Lego kit.
