The app allows visitors to schedule meetings with inmates without referrals, except for high-profile inmates.
The Punjab Prisons Department has introduced a mobile application to facilitate advance booking to meet inmates in all jails in the province, including Adiala Central Jail, officials said on Friday.
According to prison authorities, the application allows family members and other visitors to schedule meetings with prisoners and inmates in process without the need for recommendations or intermediaries. The system will also send notifications if a scheduled meeting is canceled for administrative or security reasons.
The app, now available for download on the Google Play Store, aims to make the visiting process more transparent and efficient. A formal notification for implementation has been distributed to all prison superintendents of Punjab.

Officials said staff responsible for the Prisoner Management Information System (PMIS) at each facility have received special training to operate the new platform. Operational guidance videos have also been provided for internal use.
To assist visitors who are unfamiliar with the process, dedicated staff will be deployed to prison waiting sheds to help them make online bookings. Separate facilitation desks will also be set up for those who pre-book their meetings through the app.
However, officials clarified that traditional gathering protocols will continue to apply for high-profile inmates and hardened criminals due to security concerns.
