Erdogan promises solidarity with Pakistan affected by floods in Sco Sidelines


The president of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdogan expressed solidarity with the people of Pakistan on Sunday for the loss of lives and financial damage caused by the recent floods of the Monzones, ensuring that his government and people are “shoulder shoulder” with Pakistan at this difficult time.

According to the National Authority for Disaster Management (NDMA) of more than 700 people, it has been killed and almost 1,000 wounds in incidents related to the monsoon throughout the country. In Punjab, at least 38 people have died and 750,000 people have been displaced due to recent floods.

Of the total deaths, at least 356 were reported in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). In Karachi, at least 10 people lost their lives as strong flooded neighborhoods, paralyzed traffic and caused generalized power cuts, which led the mayor to declare a rain emergency.

Erdogan’s comments were produced during a meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on the sides of the SCO Council of State Chiefs in Tianjin, China.

The two leaders reviewed the current state of bilateral relations and expressed satisfaction about the growing impulse in political, economic, defense and security cooperation.

They also exchanged opinions on regional and international issues, expressing a deep concern about the worsening of the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to support the legitimate rights of the Palestinians and condemn Israeli aggression and genocide policies on international platforms.

The meeting underlined fraternal ties between Pakistan and Türkiye, with both leaders emphasizing their resolution to further strengthen cooperation for peace, stability and prosperity in the Muslim world and beyond.

SCO Summit

Prime Minister Shehbaz arrived in Tianjin on Saturday to attend the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).

The prime minister is accompanied by the Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ishaq Dar, Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal, the Minister of Information Attaullah Tarar and the senior government officials. During the Summit, the Prime Minister will present Pakistan’s perspective on regional and global pressures, describing strategies to strengthen the role of SCO in promoting cooperation and stability.

Today early, the prime minister visited the National Earthquake Simulation Center at the University of Tianjin, where he said that Pakistan was eager to benefit from Chinese experience to adopt “effective measures and preventive strategies” to better deal with natural calamities.

Shehbaz praised the use of advanced technologies by China in disaster management, calling them “extremely beneficial” for Pakistan to deal with natural disasters. He stressed that existing initiatives, including the International Medical Center and the Joint Laboratory of China-Pakistan, should become more effective while urging greater bilateral cooperation in disaster preparation.

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), founded in 2001 by China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzista, Tayikistan and Uzbekistan, is a permanent intergovernmental organism aimed at promoting political, economic, economic and cultural cooperation while maintaining the “spirit of Shanghai” of mutual trust, equality and non -speaker.

Its supreme organ of decision -making is the Council of Heads of State, with the Secretariat of Beijing and the regional anti -terrorism structure in Tashkent that serves as permanent institutions.
