Toronto: Eic Trump, son of the president of the United States, Donald Trump, said he believes that Bitcoin is digital gold and described the largest digital currency in a value reserve, during a full panel in consensus 2025 in Toronto.
“I really believe in digital gold, which is Bitcoin, right? I think in the value store,” Trump said.
However, Eric Trump, who has experience in real estate, told the crowd of the Consensus 2025 Coindesk conference in Toronto that he did not enter Bitcoin or Crypto until the policy intertwined the Trump family and the cryptographic community.
“It was not until the same group that attacked my family without any more reason than political beliefs, began to attack [the] Cryptographic community that really promoted two people who could not have always been mental together and that the association has been absolutely incredible, “he said Thursday.
In addition to politics, he also realized that real estate are not as liquid as Bitcoin, which has a better liquidity and was easier to perform transactions, solidifying his belief in the digital currency. “I also realized, more or less, through some of that political weapon, you know, some of the limitations of real estate. Real estate have created tremendous wealth for our family. At the same time, real estate cannot be transferred. It is very difficult to sell,” he said.
“I sold a hotel two years ago. It took me a year and a half literally transact that hotel because you have titles reports and you have managers that have to enter, and you have the best proliferations. You do all kinds of things,” Trump said. “… you constantly have to administer it. You constantly have to see the operations, right? And suddenly, you have this type of digital asset that you do not need to see, you do not need to manage. You know, it is easy to make transactions.”
Trump is the co -founder and strategy director of American Bitcoin, a Bitcoin mining firm founded in association with Hut 8 and scheduled to leave public through a fusion with Gryphon Digital Mining (GRYP).
The Gryphon association arose from a desire to take the public American Bitcoin Partnership as quickly as possible, said the CEO of Hut 8, Asher Genoot, on stage with Trump to a multitude of only footing room. An existing mining business was a key part of that plan, in addition to obtaining ‘American’ and ‘Bitcoin’ as part of the company’s name.
“American Bitcoin, for me, it’s all, you know. And the name occurred to us, I said one thing. I said, listen, you have to have the American word, and you have to have the word bitcoin,” Trump said.
