Although less than six months have passed since the presidential elections of 2024, the star of the sports media Stephen A. Smith seems to be looking at 2028.
Smith, who recently signed a lucrative extension of the contract with ESPN, often deepens political conversations in his podcast, “The Stephen A. Smith Show”.
During a February edition of his podcast, Smith addressed the idea of launching an offer for president within a few years.
“I wanted to put this to bed once and for all … I have no intentions to run for the president of the United States of America,” Smith said in an episode of his podcast that premiered on February 17.

But in April, the former host of “First Toma” suggested that recent events led him to change course.
Stephen A Smith says that he is considering the presidential career strongly, he has been approached by politicians
“It’s time to stop playing. Life is great. Especially in ESPN/Disney. I hate the idea of being a politician. But he’s fed up with this disaster. So officially I leave all open doors,” Smith wrote on X on April 7.

Chiney Ogwumike, who spent four seasons with Los Angeles Sparks and currently works at ESPN, highlighted a specific skill that could work for Smith’s advantage in case he finally runs for a political position.
“I think he would be the first to say that I would not want to run, but let me tell you this: I hope you do the debate stage,” said ESPN analyst at the sports of the main office. “I think he will remain with more to stay. There is no one more prepared for a presidential debate format that Stephen A., in my opinion.”

During the Convention of the National Association of Grabidaters in Las Vegas in early April, Smith made it clear that his decision to run for a position would finally depend on the state of the nation in a year or two and if the data at that time would indicate that he had “a legitimate injection to win.”
“If you arrive at the end of 2026, 2027, where I look at this country and I think it is an absolute disaster and there is a legitimate reason to believe, either through exploratory committees or anything else, which I really have a legitimate injection to win the presidency of the United States. I will not rule it out, and I am not playing.”
President Donald Trump recently called the Newsnation City Council on Wednesday when Smith appeared on the network. During the call, Trump expressed his support for a possible presidential offer of Smith, saying that the station is “a good guy.”
“Stephen A. is a good guy,” Trump said. “He is an intelligent guy. I love seeing him. He has great entertainment skills, which is very important. People see it.
“You know, many of these Democrats I see, I say: ‘They have no possibility.’ I have been quite good for choosing people and choosing candidates.
