The Dallas Cowboys continue to be one of the most commented sports franchises in the nation. But former sports columnist and television commentator Michael Wilbon suggested that the talk about the “team of the United States” should be attenuated.
During its peak, which included three Super Bowl titles in the first half of the 1990s, the cowboys were known as “America’s Team”. The club also won a couple of titles in the 1970s and had lists full of star players.
But since the Super Bowl won in the 1995 season, success has been scarce. The franchise has not advanced to a conference championship since that season.

But the victories limited in the field have not prevented national media from discussing the team. Wilbon argued that Dallas becomes irrelevant once the calendar becomes January.

“The cowboys are not in the great afternoon action,” Wilbon said in the episode of “Pardón la interruption” during a discussion about the owner of the Jerry Jones team.
“They are not relevant in January. Therefore, I could be hurting their team while doing so. Again, I don’t care because I don’t care cowboys, although I know that most of the programming on this network is dedicated to Jerry Jones and the cowboys.”

Wilbon also explained that he mainly ignores what Jones says during his frequent news conferences.
“There is nothing to which Jerry Jones says that I pay attention. Nothing,” Wilbon added. “Because the point of trying to decipher what he says and assigning meaning is a damn waste of time, and I don’t have so much. Jerry Jones likes to listen to himself.
While the cowboys have not found their way back to the NFL mountain in almost three decades, Jones has reached the pinnacle in terms of commercial operations. In 2024, an assessment of Forbes estimated that the Cowboys were worth approximately $ 10.1 billion, which made the franchise the most valuable sports team in the world.

Jones is in the middle of a negotiation of the contract extension with the verses with the representatives of Micah Park. Jones has commented on the situation while weighing whether to offer Parsons a long -term agreement that presumably would make the password corridor the non -quarterly paid in the NFL.
