The US Open is the final Grand Slam tournament of each tennis season, and Ethan Quinn, 21, can speak for each American when he says he loves to compete in his homeland after a long year of travel.
But, of course, tennis is an individual sport, and each player in the tournament is fighting to be the last standing, including all American compatriots.
Even so, Quinn, entering his third Open of the United States with his highest race ranking at number 84, explained how tight that group is despite the competitive environment.

The United States led all nations in the main raffle entries, with 30 players in the masculine and female individual fields combined.
“I think we all proud ourselves a lot because of the fact that there are many of us here,” Quinn told Pak Gazette Digital, while we argued how important Orgain is to help him meet his protein goals to stay fit for such a demanding tournament. “I think this is one of the years in which there are most of the Americans in the main raffle. We all proud of that because it feels like a community.”
Before traveling to New York, Quinn competed at the Cincinnati Open the previous week. Although he could not run through the trophy, he said he loved to see the camaraderie among his compatriots in the locker room.
Taylor Fritz becomes the first American man to reach Wimbledon’s semifinals since 2018
“We had about six of us, all next to each other, and it’s a lot of fun when they are all together,” he explained. “It’s something I admire with Reilly [Opelka]Taylor [Fritz]French [Tiafoe]and Tommy [Paul]. Everyone grew together, everyone knows each other. They have basically known for 15 years. They look at the costumes and are best friends, and everyone push each other. They are best friends, but when they play, they do everything possible because they don’t want to lose. “
“They also want to be the best American. I know that Taylor is proud to be the number one American: he hate losing other Americans. I personally hate losing other Americans too.”
As Quinn said, beating “many of the Americans” means that you are working on the ATP classification, which is always good. Tournaments such as the US Open can also put treasury stars like Quinn on the map for fans who do not follow tennis as closely throughout the year.
“I think being here in the US Open is something that we are all really excited, something we all want to push.

Quinn will begin his journey of singles for American men on Sunday afternoon against Jérôme Kym of Switzerland. And although he knows that he needs to look inside himself to move on to the second round and beyond, he also knows that he has American fellow citizens in his corner.
“Tennis is an individual sport, so you should usually trust yourself,” he said. “When I went through university, I was used to having a team. When you get to the professional level, you really have to find out once you leave the university, ‘Very good, who is my team?’ Having this many Americans who support each other, is like our own small university team.
“It’s something we all really appreciate. It’s exciting, and it’s a fun way to make our lives.”
Protein priority
For a tournament like the US Open, being properly prepared to run requires precise attention to things outside the court and forward.
One of them is the appropriate fuel, so Quinn appreciates the organic protein shakes of 30 grams of Orgain. While he said he loves to assume dense meals, such as breaking two hamburgers and a shake, having Orgain’s comfort has been something that cannot happen during his season.
“I think there is not too much protein [in your diet]”He said.” When I am feeding dinner, I am having a great steak, I am having as much protein as I can with what I am eating. But then, I am also having two Organy protein shakes per day, especially when I am in a large training block. Before this week, I’m on the road.
“It has been a chaotic week with obligations and obviously training, fisios and everything.
