The residents rushed to the roofs or in the security trees, while the authorities declared emergencies after the swollen rivers violated the banks in several districts of southern Punjab, flooding hundreds of villages in large stripes, particularly in the Chenab basin, the authorities said on Monday.
The Provincial Disaster Authority (PDMA) of Punjab said that the Setlej, Ravi and Chenab rivers remained in a “very high flood” in multiple locations. He added that the water would enter the Indo River at night between Monday and Tuesday.
According to the officials, the furious rivers violated embankments in Jalalpur Pirwala, flooding dozens of villages and forcing the authorities to declare emergencies in Jalalpur and Shujaabad. Later, officials ordered a complete evacuation of the city of Jalpur Pirwala, fearing that Chenab could break through the protective dikes.
They said that a second flood wave in the Chenab Swampon more than 300 villages in the Jhang district, while the great violations in Azmatpur of Muzaffarhrh formed more than 7,000 people to flee their homes. Below, the Sutlej overwhelmed the defenses near Bahawalpur and Bahawalnagar.
A high -level flood on the Sutlej River forged ravages in the Vehari district, since the water involved more than 185 villages and 90 settlements. According to the irrigation department, the violation of an embankment in the Akbar Shah area of Luddan submerged more than 1,500 houses.
The district administration said that more than 75,000 people and thousands of permanent crops had been affected by the flood. In other places, Kasur saw 130 submerged peoples, impacting more than 100,000 residents. In Chinast, more than 100 villages lost access to the road after embankments failed.
According to the data published by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), so far more than 4,000 rescue operations were carried out, in which they were taken to a place to safe 2.4 million people. Rescue equipment deployed additional ships and drones to monitor the flood situation.
According to the PDMA, the Chenab basin has been the most affected, with about 1,578 villages and more than 1.65 million affected people. The authorities said 36 people have died in floods related to Chenab, while five deaths were reported throughout the Ravi. In general, Punjab’s dead number is 244 since June.
Nationally, the NDMA said that 922 people have died during this Monzón season, including 12 in the last 24 hours. According to the provincial authorities.

Kathia said that due to the new entries of the trimmu head, fine would remain at high risk during the next 48 hours. “Water pressure is expected in the head Muhammadwala and Shershah’s embankments will increase in the next 24 hours,” he added.
The authorities in Sindh said that the Indo was currently experiencing low -level floods at the Guddu, Sukkur and Kotri barriers. The authorities instructed the district administrations to remain alert and accelerate protection measures against possible threats.
Meanwhile, the National Emergency Operation Center (NEOC) of the NDMA issued an urgent weather notice, warning of strong rains in Punjab, Sindh and Baluchistan parts during the next 12 to 24 hours.
The NEOC warned about urban floods, overwhelmed streams and landslides in mountainous areas due to rain. Prognosis of the flashing rains in the northeast and southern Punjab districts, including Gujranwala, Sialkot, Lahore, Hafizabad, Faisalabad, Chinint and Sargodha.
Heavy and thunderous downpours are expected in fine, Layyah, Khanewal, Vehari, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Muzaffarhrh, Dera Ghazi Khan, Khanpur, Rajanpur, Liaqatpur, Zahir Pir, Sadiqabad and Rahimi.
In Sindh, it is likely that the southern districts experience heavy rains accompanied by strong winds, affecting thattta, badin, tharparkar, mithi, uurkot, mirpurkhas, tando Muhammad Khan, tando Adam, Hyderabad, Karachi and surrounding areas.
Light and intermittent showers are forecast for the top and central Sindh, including Sukkur, Larkana, Shaheed Benazirabad, Khairpur, Dadu, Jacobabad, Kashmore, Jamshoro and nearby towns. In Baluchistan, Zhob, Lorealai, Sibi, Dera Bugti, Sui, Khuzdar, Awaran, Barkhan and Lasbela are expected to receive intermittent showers with thunderstorms.
