- The latest Expressvpn update for iOS adds support for Siri, Widgets, Attacks and Automation
- You can establish expressvpn to activate when connected to specific networks
- The update adds functions for iOS 26, but will also work in previous versions..
Expressvpn has presented an improved integration with iOS, adding support for Siri, Widgets, shortcuts and automation.
These new features have been announced on the heels of the new iPhone 17 range, but work in previous versions of iOS and iOS 26.
The use of these improved integration characteristics offers greater control over access to VPN through Expressvpn. It is important to highlight that they also offer improved automation possibilities, including support to connect through a VPN server when certain conditions are met (such as connecting to a specific open Wi-Fi network).
Expressvpn’s new functions are part of the last update of their iOS application and are intended to make Techradar reviewers described as one of the best VPN services in the market even faster to launch and easier to use on iPhone.
All are already available at the time of writing simply updating the application to the latest version.
Instead of clicking through the menus to find Expressvpn, you can now easily connect to the VPN with a Siri voice command or a home screen widget.
This is a 2×2 widget, such as the iPhone clock, and offers “a touch protection.” This means that you can touch the shortcut to connect or disconnect the VPN, which will start the last connection it used. While the Expressvpn application has been updated, the widget can be added in the usual way (press the home screen, touch Edit, then add the widget).
For hands -free online privacy, the Siri Voice command also reuses its latest Expressvpn server. This means that through a simple statement: “Hi Siri, light expresvpn”, the application will restore the connection. That is especially useful for the public Wi-Fi, either in a coffee, mall or in public transport.
According to Expressvpn’s announcement, “for now, Siri keeps him simple when prioritizing his last connection, whether London for work, New York for transmission or tokyo to travel.” This suggests some intriguing future possibilities on how the application connects to VPN servers.
Automations and routines for your Expressvpn connection
Perhaps the most intriguing express expression is the introduction of actions that can be incorporated into automation. Apple’s new Hardware is intelligent for the home, and this new feature feels like the first step towards greater contextual control over its VPN connection.
Therefore, the updated express application can handle shortcuts that connect to a specific server at a scheduled time. Now you can also “configure Expressvpn to automatically activate when you join a coffee wi-fi,” explains the supplier.
Once again, Expressvpn implies that these automation could become more developed, telling us that “over time, Siri will even learn to suggest the right action at the right time.”
The next Smart Home VPN solution?
Expressvpn joins a list of competitors, including Nordvpn and ProtonvPN, to offer more automation for iPhone users. Although experience may not be as flexible or granular as with Expressvpn.
This means that, with this update, ExpressvPN could be positioning as a home Smart Home VPN solution. Since iPhones and Mac are getting more and more equipped with the subprocess radius, and Apple is expanding its support for the Smart Home platform of matter (based on interoperability and automation philosophies), it is not difficult to see what Expressvpn points to.
You can try these new functions for you by updating the latest version of the Expressvpn iPhone VPN application: the update works with previous versions of iOS and the last one, iOS 26.
