Islamabad:
The authorities in the South of Waziristan have extended a curfew in the entire district for the second consecutive day, citing high security concerns.
According to an official notification, “every movement throughout the district will remain completely restricted” during the curfew. The order affects markets, shopping centers and transport routes.
The attached commissioner Ismatullah Wazir said that all bazaars, commercial areas and public routes in the south of Waziristan will remain closed throughout the curfew.
“From Saragha to Kotkai, Spinkai Raghzai and Nazar Khel, all roads will remain sealed,” he said. “Dargai Pul’s movement, Madi Jan, Shin Warsak a Mola Khan Sarai and Chagmali will also be strictly prohibited.”
The trips will only be allowed in emergencies and in strict conditions, with the police or the security authorization, the valid identification and the presentation of documents.
Residents have received instructions to remove their vehicles at least 100 meters from the road when observing any security convoy, the notice added.
Serwekai’s routes to Mola Khan Sarai and Bowand will also remain closed. All roads from Tiarza to Torwam must also block. Renewed restrictions follow a recent increase in security threats throughout the region. No timeline was given to lift the curfew.
