The youth laptop scheme of the Prime Minister has expanded its registration deadline from May 20 to June 1, which gives students throughout Pakistan additional time to request free portable computers under the Government’s flagship digital empowerment initiative.

An official of the Prime Minister’s youth program said on Monday that the extension opens “a new window of opportunity for students to improve their digital literacy and academic performance.”

Last month, the Federal Government officially relaunched the scheme of youth portable computers of the Prime Minister by 2025, with the aim of distributing 100,000 laptops to high -performance students throughout the country. The application deadline was established for May 20, 2025.

The scheme, part of a broader impulse to promote intelligent education, aims to distribute 100,000 laptops to talented students seeking higher education in universities and public sector institutions.

According to program guidelines, students enrolled in PHD, MS/MPHIL, degree or master’s programs are eligible to request. Applicants must comply with the minimum academic criteria: a CGPA of 2.80 or 60% grades. First year students are required to have HSSC results, while MS/Doctorate students in their first semester must provide transcripts of their previous title.

A quota system has been introduced to guarantee representation, with 18% of laptops reserved for Baluchistan students and 5% for distance students. The last category will be divided equally between the students of the Virtual University and the University of Allama Iqbal Open.

“Only students currently enrolled are eligible,” said the official. “Those who have already graduated have no right to benefit from the scheme, even if they had requested during their studies.”

Students can register through the Youth Hub (DYH) digital application of the prime minister or the official website www.pmyp.gov.pk. A 15 -day window will be provided to raise objections after the provisional merit list is published, followed by the launch of a final merit list.

The implementation of the program is being closely monitored for transparency and selection based on merit. According to officials, the scheme website has seen an increase in traffic, with thousands of students who already submit their requests.

The initiative, now in its fourth phase, is being acclaimed as a symbol of hope and a strategic investment in the future of Pakistan. “By joining the digital division and providing access to technology, we are empowering our young people to compete worldwide,” added the official.
