The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) has uncovered alleged irregularities in the recruitments carried out by the Department of Sports and Youth Affairs in Balochistan, covering the years 2006, 2011, 2013 and 2021.

High-level sources revealed that between 14 and 18 people were appointed in violation of the rules to positions in grades 11 to 18. A significant number of these appointments reportedly belong to the same family, including siblings, in-laws, brothers-in-law and cousins. At least two people currently serve in grades 16 and 18.

No public advertisement was published in newspapers for these positions and minutes of the selection committee meetings, a mandatory requirement, are reportedly missing from the records. The then director has denied having signed any appointment order related to these recruitments.

ACE issued multiple notices to the department demanding records of the appointments, but officials allegedly avoided providing complete documentation. In response to inquiries about two specific individuals, the department stated that their records were not available, but these employees continue to receive regular salaries.

The Anti-Corruption Institute has launched a formal investigation into the matter and is pushing for full records. Sources indicate that the department has chosen to avoid cooperation rather than provide the required information.

It is pertinent to mention that Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti has repeatedly stated his administration’s zero tolerance policy towards corruption in any form. ACE continues its investigation into these alleged false hires within the Department of Athletics.
