Full spoilers follow immediately for radioactive dust season 2 episode 4.
radioactive dust Season 2, Episode 4 has arrived on Prime Video, and a seemingly throwaway line of dialogue has sparked a major new fan theory about the current mystery surrounding Vaults 31, 32, and 33.
Titled ‘The devil in the snow’, radioactive dust The last episode of season 2 is full of surprises. Of the long-awaited arrival of an iconic radioactive dust monster in Deathclaw, right down to that reveal about Steph, the newly installed supervisor of Vault 32 and more, it’s certainly an eventful installment.
However, it’s a moment in Norm’s story that had viewers’ tongues wagging after the release of season 2, episode 4. And, as I hinted above, it’s one that may hold the key to solving the aforementioned underground shelter riddle.
About 19 minutes after radioactive dust In the latest entry of the TV show, we meet Norm MacLean, who originally hails from Vault 33, and Bud’s Buds. The last group are Vault-Tec managers-in-training who were cryogenically frozen in Vault 31 before the Great War, and who were awakened by Norm after Bud Askins, a Vault-Tec junior vice president, trapped him in Vault 31, in last season’s finale.
After Norm tricks Bud’s Buds into helping him escape from Vault 31 in this season’s second episode, he now guides them through the Wasteland under the pretense that he is part of a “race of super managers” who have been genetically engineered over the past 200 years to lead Vault-Tec. That way, Norm can continue tricking them into working for him while he continues trying to determine what’s really going on between the three Vaults.
That brings us to the latest episode of the Prime Video show and what suddenly got its audience excited. During a conversation with Ronnie McCurtry, Bud’s personal assistant, Norm (and, by proxy, us) learned about a new Vault-Tec program called Future Enterprise Ventures. Or, to shorten it to its main initials, FEV
Why is that important? Those are the same initials that represent something else enormously significant in the radioactive dust universe: the virus of forced evolution.
What is the forced evolutionary virus in the Fallout franchise?
I won’t get into the weeds of radioactive dustIt’s a long tradition, but essentially the Forced Evolution Virus is an artificial contagion that was created before the Great War.
Developed by the NBC Division of West-Tek, a major US defense contractor and research organization, it is a biological weapon that, as its name implies, has the ability to force change in the genetic makeup of organic matter.
In fact, the virus has been used as a superweapon by numerous antagonists throughout the world. radioactive dust franchise, including the Maestro, aka the leader of Unity, who created super mutants using it. The Enclave, a recurring and underground evil faction in the Bethesda video game series, also used it for genocidal purposes. In case you’ve forgotten, the Enclave is the faction that Siggi Wilzig abandons early on. radioactive dust season 1 and sets in motion one of the main plots of the show, which is based on cold fusion technology.
Now, none of this is a guarantee that the Master, the Enclave, or the Super Mutants will appear in the second season of the Amazon TV Original. It is also possible that the forced evolution virus and Future Enterprise Ventures simply share the same primary initials.
A lot radioactive dust However, fans don’t believe the latter is a coincidence. A quick scan of threads on Reddit pages like r/Fallout and r/Fotv, as well as a Season 2 thread on the ResetEra forums, are filled with comments from viewers speculating about the possibility of the two being related.
If that turns out to be the case, it could solve the mystery about the experiments taking place between Vaults 31, 32, and 33. We already know that the trio is part of an ongoing experiment whereby, from time to time, one of Bud’s Buds emerges from cryosleep to praise him over Vaults 32 and 33, and reproduce with the general population to create future Vault-Tec administrators.
What if there is a secondary goal that the inhabitants of the triumvirate must achieve, namely the creation of the FEV to recreate said virus for nefarious reasons? Vault-Tec is nothing more than a sinister, omnipresent megacorporation bent on ruling the planet, so I wouldn’t be surprised if we finally learn that the FEV has something to do with the reboot of the Forced Evolutionary Virus program to create the “super managers” that Norm mentions in the second episode of this season. Let’s hope we learn more soon.
