ISLAMABAD: The families of the two girls, who lost their lives after being hit by a speeding vehicle in Islamabad, have forgiven the suspect, leading to the termination of the case.
The development took place when both families recorded their statements before judicial magistrate Shaista Khan Kundi.
The teenager, whose father is said to be associated with the judiciary, was sent to four-day physical remand on December 2 after his car fatally collided with a scooter carrying two women at Islamabad’s Secretariat Chowk at Shahrah-e-Dastoor.
Police said the car collided with the scooter, killing both women instantly. The driver was arrested immediately after the incident and later produced in court. The judge handed over the accused to the police and placed him on four-day physical remand for further investigation.
During today’s proceedings, the court was informed that the parties had reached an agreement, after which the judge approved the suspect’s bail and ordered his release.
A victim’s brother appeared in court to record the family’s statement, while the mother’s statement was recorded online. The father of the second deceased girl also personally submitted his statement.
The suspect was produced in court at the end of his four-day physical remand.
