On Friday Sattar de Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) Farooq satar praised on Friday the recent decision of the government to reduce electricity prices by 12 to 17 percent, qualifying it as significant relief for several consumption groups.
In statements to the media in Karachi, Farooq Sattar declared that the price reduction, announced by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, was a direct result of the MQM-P efforts in the current coalition government.
He explained that MQM-P had focused on two key issues during their participation, reducing electricity costs and water supply problems, and played a crucial role in achieving reductions.
He pointed out that some consumers had seen a decrease in their electricity bills from RS 10,000 to RS 8,500 due to reductions.
Looking towards the future, Farooq Sattar expressed the hope that the next budget would result in a reduction in interest rates from 12% to 9%, which would make loans more accessible to the public.
He acknowledged that the impact of such measures could take time to fully carry out, but emphasized that they represented important progress in the government’s economic policies.
It should be noted here that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced Thursday to reduce electricity prices by 15% or 7.41 per unit because of seasonal rates settings and by increasing the neutral subsidy in the budget to increase the consumption of the national network and provide comfort to families that fight financially
The benefit has been granted to about 40.3 million consumers, mainly 35 million residential users.
