ISLAMABAD:

The Federal Constitutional Court has dismissed a petition seeking leave to appeal against non-allotment of marks to Shahadat-ul-Alamia in the appointment of a Qari (BPS-12), thus upholding the decision of the Peshawar High Court.

According to the detailed written judgment approved for report, a two-member bench comprising Justice Ali Baqar Najafi and Justice Muhammad Karim Khan Agha announced the verdict after hearing the FCPLA No. 338 of 2025 filed by Shamshuddin. The petitioner had challenged the judgment dated October 23, 2025 of the Mingora Bench of the Peshawar High Court.

The court further observed that the qualification prescribed for Qari (BPS-12) was a bachelor’s degree along with a certificate in Qirat from a recognized institution, as clearly stated in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Civil Servants (Appointment, Promotion and Transfer) Rules, 1989 and relevant government notifications.

Love marriage case

On Tuesday, the FCC allowed Maria to go with her husband, Shehryar, in a case related to a marriage of choice, while directing the girl’s parents to approach the appropriate forum regarding her claim of a sham marriage.

The case was heard by a two-member bench headed by Justice Hassan Azhar Rizvi. During the proceedings, Maria told the court that she had not been kidnapped and had married Shehryar of her own free will. She categorically stated in court that she was an adult and fully capable of making decisions about her life.
