A mild earthquake hit the Federal Capital Islamabad and several districts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) on Thursday afternoon, which caused fear and panic among residents.

The tremors felt in Peshawar, Barkhela, Takht Bhai, Lower Dir, Buner and Rustam and their surroundings.

According to the Department of Meteorology of Pakistan (PMD), the earthquake measured 5.2 on the Richter scale. He hit at 1:28 pm local time with a depth of 198 kilometers.

The epicenter was located in the border region between Afghanistan and Tayikistan, within the Hindu Kush mountain range.

A spokesman for the Provincial Authority of Disaster Management (PDMA) said that so far no low or damage to property had been reported.

The PDMA said that its emergency operations center remains in contact with district administrations throughout the province. Citizens have been advised to denounce any adversary incident on the 1700 emergency aid line.
