USA FENING has recognized an upcoming federal investigation into an incident that occurred in one of her events where a women’s feator was punished for refusing to face a transgender competitor.
The investigation, which will be carried out by the recently formed research team of Title IX together with the Department of Education and the United States Department of Justice, was announced on Friday by the Secretary of Education, Linda McMahon.
The incident, which occurred at the Cherry Blossom Open in Maryland on March 30, saw the Women’s corner Stephanie Turner take a knee in protest of the Trans Redmond Sullivan competitor. Turner was disqualified from the event and left the place.
USA FENING provided a statement to Pak Gazette Digital saying that it will cooperate with the investigation.
“USA FENING will respond and cooperate with any investigation as required by law,” reads the statement.

The incident that involved Turner quickly caught national attention after a video of her knelt to protest Sullivan went viral. The footage lit the generalized consciousness and the reaction against the Gender Eligibility Policies of USA Fencing.
Turner told Pak Gazette Digital that he made the decision to shoot the night before the event, when he reviewed the pools of the competition and saw that he would compete against Sullivan.
“I saw that I was going to be in a pool with Redmond, and from there I said: ‘Ok, let’s do it. I’m going to take the knee,” Turner said. “He knew what he had to do because the Fencing of the United States had not been listening to women’s objections regarding [its gender eligibility policy]”

USA FENCING first promulgated his current transinclusion policy in 2023.
