Islamabad:
An important turn arose in the investigation of the Federal Research Agency (FIA) on the illegal issuance of Visas E for Afghan citizens on Friday when two officials of the agency’s antihuman control cell, including a sub -inspector, have allegedly trapped requesting soaks of suspects in custody.
Taking a serious notification of the matter, the general director of the FIA, Riffat Mukhtar, ordered the arrest of both officials and constituted a joint research team (JIT) of four members to carry out an exhaustive investigation.
The antihuman smuggling cell of the FIA had previously discovered a large -scale scandal that involves the illegal emission of the Pakistani valves to the Afghan nationals.
The racket supposedly operated through false sponsorships and with the collusion of officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Press Information Department (PID).
After registering a formal case, the FIA arrested six people, including the information assistant of PID, Nader Rahim and several Afghan nationals.
However, during the investigation, DG Fia Raja Riffat Mukhtar received credible information that some FIA personnel involved in the investigation allegedly colluded with the suspects and facilitated them in exchange for bribes.
The DG immediately addressed director FIA Islamabad Zone, Shehzad Nadeem Bukhari, to start a discreet internal research.
According to the FIA spokesman, the agency’s anti -corruption circle in Islamabad arrested the sub -inspector Waseem Ahmed and agent Aqib Mahmood of the antihuman smuggling cell for charges of corruption and bribery.
Supposedly, the two officers were caught demanding a bribe of RS2 million of Zubair Ahmed, one of the accused in custody in the E-Visa case.

A four -member jit has now been constituted under the supervision of the deputy director of the FIA Anticorruption, Nauman Khalil, to investigate the matter in a transparent and impartial way. Other team members include sub -inspector Shams Khan, sub -inspector Shehryar and agent Mehdi.
The JIT has begun his investigation by interrogating FIA personnel arrested.
The authorities revealed that until now six people have been arrested in relation to the illegal case of the Afghan visa.
The suspects include Abdul Aziz, Ahmad Sakhi, Atif Ahmed, Nader Rahim Abbasi (an PID official), Ahmed and Zubair Ahmed. The investigations suggest that the operated gang manipulating sponsorship documentation with the support of experts within government departments.
