‘FIA officials fired for misconduct’

The Minister of State of the Interior, Talal Chaudhary, informed the National Assembly on Thursday that 51 officials of the Federal Research Agency (FIA) had been dismissed in the last two years for various types of misconduct.

Speaking during the time of the question, the minister said that the FIA ​​has an effective internal responsibility system to take disciplinary measures against its personnel involved in irregularities.

He expressed satisfaction with the performance of the National Authority for Investigation of Cyber ​​Crime (Nccia), particularly when addressing cybercrime throughout the country.

He told the Chamber that a general director had been appointed to direct the NCCIA and that around 500 personnel currently worked in the authority. There has also been a proposal to hire additional personnel to improve their capacity.

On Tuesday, two other suspects, Muhammad Ishaq Khan and Syed Ahsan Shah were arrested. Shah is accused of helping 580 Afghan nationals to ensure Saudi work visas with counterfeit Pakistani documentation, while Ishaq Khan supposedly helped 22 people.

Together, it is believed that the five suspects have facilitated a total of 693 Afghan nationals to obtain Saudi work visas using CNics and fraudulent Pakistani passports.

The authorities indicated that the participation of the officials of the Immigration and Passport Office and the National Data and Registration Authority (NADRA) in the scam will be determined during the investigation.

More raids are being carried out to stop other network members.
