- Figma MCP is no longer just a desktop, it is reaching IDES, agents of AI and more
- MCP also put the code bases and projects within Figma.
- Rest API rate limits will change, but only 1% of users will be affected
Figma is implementing updates behind the scene so that its AI agents are even more powerful by extending their access to the context in more places.
Next, from the launch of the local MCP server in early 2025, Figma is adding remote access to Figma MCP, which allows users to connect to the platform from IDES, AI coding agents and browser -based models.
The company has also launched a catalog of partners to simplify the MCP server connection to IDES or agents.
Figma MCP has just obtained a large update
Figma is also using its model context protocol (MCP), an open source standard to connect artificial intelligence tools with software applications, tools and platforms, within Figma, Figma provides a bridge between user projects and their code bases.
It allows the AI models to access the underlying code from the MAKE files, not only the prototypes or rendered images, and will be compatible with anthropic, cursor, windsurf and vs. code from the launch, with indications that other partners could join on a later date.
Figma Make began in Config 2025 in May as a warning tool to code to convert the entry of natural language into completely encoded protoypes.
Looking towards the future, Figma says that he will review all public integrations of third parties and MCP clients before they can access the user data to guarantee maximum security. The API Rest speed limits will also be adjusted as of November 17, but Figma says that the change will only affect less than 1% of active users in Figma.
“We want the context to move freely between the tools so that the explorations can evolve to the production characteristics, without rewriting or unnecessary modifications,” added Figma Cto Kris Rasmussen.
Figma has also added the allocation in the application within CODE Connect, and the MCP server promises to share more than just design context, such as code components and use guidelines.
The changes are available now, but Figma said they remain in Beta.
