- Android phone owners can now quickly see office files in a way without problems
- Previously, if they sent him an office file, he had to log in to his Microsoft account even to take a quick look
- No log is required now, as has been the case with iOS for a while
Microsoft has just brought the anonymous file exchange capacity that was already in iOS for Android users, so those phone owners can see an office file that has been sent to them without being forced to log in to their Microsoft account.
Currently, if a link to a Word file is sent (or other Microsoft Office format such as Excel), when you access it on an Android smartphone, you must log in to your Microsoft account before seeing it.
However, as Android Authority reports, Microsoft has now eliminated that requirement, so you can simply click and see the office file on your phone. But if you want to do something else, such as editing a Word document that you have received or appearing in a comment, then you will still have to log in, since these changes must be attributed to you. (You will see a notice informing you of this, by the way).
However, you will need an updated version of Office on your mobile phone for this to work, and Microsoft notice in the publication of the blog that presents the change required by version 16.0.18827.20066 or later.
As Android Authority observes, the ability to click on a link and open an office file in this way, without registering, has been available on iPhone for a few months.
Analysis: approximately the time for Android
It took time to provide this functionality for Android, then, which is a bit strange, since it would think it would be a priority for Microsoft (with that mobile operating system that most smart phones represents). Even so, it is good to see the debut of the function, even if Android users have had to wait a while for this trick to be written.
Obviously, it is quite inconvenient to click on a link in a file that has been sent and then be asked to log in, if everything you want to do, perhaps, it is a quick look at the document that has been sent.
I must keep in mind that the file sender must still log in with his Microsoft account to share a file, of course, it is only the recipient who can see the file (and only see it) anonymously, without the need for login.
