- Instagram for iPad is now available
- It arrives 15 years after the original launch of the application for iPhone
- The application includes a new new tab
It has been one of the strangest anomalies in technology for several years, the lack of an official Instagram application for the iPad, but Meta engineers have finally found time to correct this wrong: Instagram for the iPad is now available.
If you have one of Apple’s tablets, you can now settle and enjoy the feeds, stories and instagram reels on a larger screen. The reels will be what appears first, because Instagram recognizes that these are perfect for thin entertainment (and also because … Tiktok).
“People have asked for this for a while,” says the advertisement blog publication with a serious face. “We have taken the time to design an experience that optimizes its favorite Instagram parts for a larger screen.”
Instagram for iOS debuted in October 2010, and requests for an application for iPad began almost immediately. While the applications gradually appeared for Android, the web and even Windows Mobile over the years, the demands of an iPad application were shortly short.
A new new tab
It obtains a complete set of functions to create new content in the application for iPad, as it does in the iPhone equivalent. You can also access your Instagram input tray (with the conversation list and chats itself) and its activity and notifications.
Here is a new screen, called next. It has three tabs: all (accounts of accounts that you follow), friends (publications of people you follow and that follow you back) and the last (publications of accounts that you follow, in chronological order).
It will be interesting to if this tab reaches the other Instagram applications: according to the announcement, it was introduced in response to “requests in easier ways to ensure that you do not lack updates of your favorite accounts.”
Based on a quick look at the application, it seems to do a decent job when using the additional screen space. You must find the Instagram application for iPad now available in the Apt Store app, and can be downloaded for free for any tablet that runs ipados 15.1 or posterior.
