- A new official teaser of GoPro Max 2 shows that it is finally preparing for launch
- The 360 degree action chamber has been in process for years
- It will compete with the DJI Osmo 360 360 and insta360 x5 recently wet
The Gopro Max 2 has been in development for so much time that it has almost won the mythical state, but the 360 camera is finally ready to officially launch, as some new tease images have just confirmed.
Gopro shared the two Max 2 images, which show two paratrooper using the camera, on all its social media platforms, including X (previously Twitter). They were accompanied by the motto of a word “fall”, which suggests that we could finally see the camera soon.
The images do not tell us a large amount about the true successor of the original Gopro Max, which was launched in 2019. Like the Hero 13 Black Gopro, the camera body has a heat dissipator fins in the front to help you avoid overheating. The Max 2 lens also seems to be more centralized than in its predecessor.
The long -awaited Gopro camera will fall into an increasingly busy space. The battle for the title of the best camera 360 has recently heated, with the arrival of the Insta360 x5, the recent leaks unmasking the DJI Osmo 360 and Akaso today revealing the most cheaper camera 360 until now, the Akaso 360.
But despite the growing competition, Gopro remains the most recognizable name in the action chambers, so we are eager to see what the incoming Max 2 brings.
ANALYSIS: Competition can only be good for 360 cameras
The background history of the Gopro Max 2 is not promising. Gopro originally told us that his rival Insta360 was “in the works” in September 2023, almost two years ago. Then, in May 2024, it was scheduled for a launch at the end of that year, only and then moved to 2025.
So why the long delay? Gopro has not yet entered details, but it is no secret that the company has recently been fighting. Earlier this year, CEO Nick Woodman voluntarily resigned from his salary to help the company, but Gopro’s actions and income have moved during the past year.
Even so, it is good to see Max 2 finally paratrooper through some dark clouds. Although you will probably have difficulty eclipssing the last flagships of Insta360 (the Chinese company has launched four iterations of its 360 -degree flagship camera from the original Max), hopefully, Max 2 will bring some new features such as interchangeable lenses and improved software to make it a good fight.
The good news for Gopro is that the benefits of the 360 cameras cannot yet be replicated by smartphones. Shoot everything around you and then point out the camera wherever you want later, it is still a very useful editing trick. And the 360 camera space will benefit from having a rejuvenated GoPro in the mixture, even if their Chinese rivals have learned to prosper in the world of the camera after action.
