- A new Dyson Stick Vac: the piston animal V16 has been announced
- It has dust compaction on board, exchange of accessories with free and advanced automation characteristics
- There is also an underwater version with additional trapeler floor head.
After three years of waiting, there is a new flagor of Dyson Stick in the city: the animal of the Dyson V16 piston. Dyson’s high -tech flowers are present and correct, but I am excited to see some simpler usability improvements, and perhaps more useful, also, including many features that we will prefer we will see versions of imitation of rival brands during the next year.
The piston animal V16 could well be the best empty Dyson based only on specifications. The Dyson Gen5Dect follows (launched in 2022) in the flagship line, but somehow it is more similar to the Dyson V15 detection of 2021. I had the opportunity to continue with the new arrival at a recent event, and I was impressed: I am in the process of trying it correctly, so be for a complete review.
So what’s up? First, the reason for the ‘piston’ in the name: compaction of dust on board through a container ‘Cleancompaktor’. Push the red lever in the cup of dust and can crush the air of everything that has been absorbed, which means that it can fit much more in the container and clean for longer without having to make repeated trips in the trash.
The interior of the container has been redesigned, so there are no cracks so that the dust is trapped, and the sliding control also cleanses the inside of the housing to eliminate any fine dust that has collected there, which told me that it has performance and aesthetic benefits.
A second practical usability improvement is that the V16 piston has been designed to exchange accessories without having to bend. Press down the red sleeve on the top of the wand to release the floor head, then simply place a new one in its place: the coupling tube in the cleanest heads sits at an angle that allows you to do this easily while standing.
In practice, this is a bit ingenious of engineering and works a pleasure. I hope it is something that other brands begin to adopt in the future.
Matted
On the subject of floor heads, the main one here looks quite different from what we are all used to. Instead of a single brush roll, the V16 piston has two cone -shaped rollers. This floor head of ‘All floor cones’ is based on the existing hair screw tool, and like that accessory, it is intended to prevent the hair from getting tangled around the rollers. The idea is that long hair is directed at the small end of each cone, where it is absorbed in the intake tube.
During my practical time, I discovered that this worked well when boarding the hair that had been placed in front of the cleaner head, but the tangled threads tended to be trapped in the gap behind the roller, requiring manual deactivated. As a long -haired person, I am interested in seeing how well it works in an environment of the real world (instead of a demonstration laboratory): I will inform once I have had the opportunity to put this function proof correctly.
By the way, the hair screw tool has also had an update for the new model. A rubber scraper has been added to help evict the hair of the upholstery, so it is loose and ready to be absorbed.
There is no separate and specific spongy floor head here. Instead, Dyson has merged the two previous floor head designs to create something that is apparently excellent in hard floors as on the carpet. The head of the floor of all floor cones has two bristle rolls, cut slightly short to stir the fibers on a carpet, but will not scratch a hard floor, in addition to a spongy material designed to sweep the hard floor.
Dyson has also behaved the laser from the spongy floor head. Here it is placed in the middle of the head and lower at an angle, to obtain benefits to illuminate even better dirt. Intelligently, you can activate an ‘automatic’ mode for the laser so that it only turns on when the vacuum feels on a hard surface, or can turn it off completely, for example, if you have pets that do not react well to the lasers in the room.
If you only have hard floors, it is better to opt for Dyson Pencilvac and its soft floor head anyway. Another new launch, the Pencilvac is a light and lower power vacuum that is aimed at its use in hard floors.
Lighting
It is almost not necessary to say it, but there has also been a boost of power. The V16 piston exceeds 315AW, compared to 262AW in the Gen5Dect. Dyson has achieved this turning the 180 degree engine compared to the previous models, which sounds contradictory but apparently works.
Many of today’s best wireless vacuum cleaners offer some type of automatic suction adjustment, but here is a particularly advanced version. Like the Gen5Dect and V15 they detect, the V16 can increase or reduce the suction depending on the amount of dirt it detects, but can also intelligently adjust the role of the brush role to adapt to the type of floor in which it is. Then, for carpets, it will use a high flow rate and rapid speed of the roller, while on the hard floors the roller speed is lower because it is not necessary for an efficient powder collection.
In Eco and Auto mode, half of the cyclones will go out through a rubber muscle, to help spread the useful life of the filter. In impulse mode, everything opens to unleash maximum power.
I am pleased to see that this power impulse is not accompanied by a weight gain: my main complaint with the gen5detect is that it is too heavy for a wireless stick vacuum. The V16 piston is really lighter; It weighs the same as the V15 detection. In practice, it is still a bit heavy, but it is reassuring that things move in the right direction.
Like the V15 detect, the V16 also comes in an underwater version, which meets in a trapeler floor head. Although the underwater floor head has been adjusted slightly compared to the one that accompanied the V15S detection submarine, it seems that our main problems with that floor head (dirty water compartment with leaks, too small water tanks) have not been addressed; Again, I will inform once I have had time to try it correctly.
This is also Dyson’s first appropriate application vacuum. The application will provide additional information and many fine adjustment control options. It also has a characteristic that records cleaning sessions and how long it was used. However, Dyson strives to point out that you can still use the V16 without the application if you wish.
Price and availability
In the United Kingdom, the Dyson V16 Piston Animal has a list price of £ 749.99, while the underwater version costs £ 899.99. Both are available to buy from today in Dyson.co.uk.
I am waiting for the confirmation of prices and launch dates in the United States and Australia and I will update this article as soon as I listen more. In the United Kingdom, the price is approximately the same as the Gen5Dect: if that is true in other territories, wait for it to cost around $ 950 / AU $ 1,550.
