Finmin urges improved ties with the United Kingdom

Islamabad:

Finance Minister Muhammad Aurengzeb expressed the desire to work for a more solid relationship between Pakistan and the United Kingdom, in his conversations with senior British officials in Lisbon, Portugal, Sunday.

According to Radio Pakistan, Aurengzeb held conversations with Hamish Falconer, the Undersecretary of State of the British parliamentarian for the Middle East, Pakistan and Afghanistan, on “matters of mutual interest.”

“Investment opportunities in Pakistan in energy, minerals and infrastructure sectors” were also discussed at the meeting.

Both parties praised the role of Pakistani diaspora to encourage bilateral relationship.

Aurengzeb, who was visiting the Portuguese capital to attend the funeral of the late Prince Karim Aga Khan IV, emphasized that Pakistan and the United Kingdom enjoyed close and cordial relationships marked by mutual trust and commitment.

On Saturday, Aurengzeb attended the funeral of the late Prince Karim al-Hussaini Aga Khan IV, and met with Prince Rahim al-Hussaini Aga Khan V to transmit condolences on behalf of the Government and the people of Pakistan.
