First touch probably on March 2 in Pakistan

The space research commission and the upper atmosphere (Supparco) has predicted that Ramadan 2025 will probably begin on March 2, depending on its visibility calculations of the moon.

According to a statement of Supparco, the new moon will occur at 5:45 pm, standard Pakistan (PST) on February 28, 2025, and the age of the Moon will be 12 hours at sunset that day. However, due to the low altitude and distance of the moon from the earth, it will be difficult to observe with the naked eye.

Suparco explained that the angle between the moon and the sun on February 28 will be only 7 degrees, which makes it impossible for the human eye to detect the crescent.

As a result, the beginning of Ramadan in Pakistan is expected to be March 2, 2025, and the first day of fasting probably follows that date.

The agency also pointed out that the crescent moon could be visible in Saudi Arabia on February 28, which means that Ramadan there could begin on March 1, 2025. The Crescent Ul-Fitr is expected to be sighted on the 30th of March, with EID possibly falling on 31, 2025.

Suparco clarified that the final decision regarding the sighting of the Ramadan and Eid will rest with the Pakistan Ruet-E-Hilal Central Committee.
