- Google says more Fitbits will arrive in 2026
- So far we do not know which devices will receive updates.
- Latest Fitbit tracker released in 2023
We were starting to lose hope of seeing Fitbit-branded wearables again, as Google is apparently more interested in devices like the Pixel Watch 4, but now we’re hearing that new Fitbits will officially be on the way next year.
As you may recall, Google acquired Fitbit in 2021, and in a statement to 9to5Google, the company says it will “launch new Fitbit hardware next year,” although there’s no indication what that hardware will look like.
That’s good news for Fitbit fans and those who don’t necessarily want to wear a smartwatch-sized tracker 24 hours a day. We assume that lightweight trackers could be on the agenda, although that’s not certain yet.
Last year, Google wearables executive Sandeep Waraich seemed to suggest that Pixel watches had replaced Fitbit smartwatches (like the Fitbit Versa 4), which makes us think we’re looking at smaller wearables for introduction in 2026.
Which models could receive an update?
The last fitness tracker released under the Fitbit brand was the Fitbit Charge 6, which debuted in 2023. Before that, we had the more affordable Fitbit Inspire 3, which arrived in 2022, and the Fitbit Luxe, which appeared in 2021.
While they lack some of the advanced features of smartwatches, these smaller trackers are easier and more comfortable to wear during sleep or while playing strenuous contact team sports, where a smartwatch is less practical.
One route Google could pursue is the screenless band, following companies like Whoop MG and Polar Loop. With those devices, you must open the accompanying app to see all your stats.
For now, though, we’re just speculating: all Google will say is that the new contenders for our list of the best Fitbits will arrive in 2026 and that we have an “exciting year ahead.” Of course, we’ll bring you all the details of the new wearables as they are announced.
